China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF) is a state-level comprehensive international arts festival hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. As the most influential arts festival in the Asia-Pacific region, CSIAF was firstly launched in 1999 with the mission of “A Festival of Arts, a Gala for All.” Guided by the vision of “using the common language of arts to bring hearts together and connect the world,” the festival has cultivated its international, artistic, people-oriented, and innovative qualities. Over the years, CSIAF has attracted over 750 international and domestic artistic organizations and more than 50,000 artists from over 80 countries and regions, reaching over 70 million audience globally.

After over 20 years of development, CSIAF has become a cultural magnet, attracting the world's finest international performing arts resources, leading trends in contemporary art creation, and serving as an essential platform for promoting exchanges and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign cultures. CSIAF strives to build a globally influential cultural brand for Shanghai while vividly displaying its people’s prosperous lives.  

The 23rd China Shanghai International Arts Festival will take place from October 18 to November 17, 2024. This year’s festival will feature performances, exhibitions, and activities across eight main sections: “Global Art” for Performances and Exhibitions, “Future of Art” for Rising Artists’ Works, “Art for the People” for “Art Space” community-focused art events, “The City of Art” for “Arts Plus” art education programs, “Art of Connection” for Performing Arts Fair (ChinaSPAF), “A Hundred Schools of Art” for International Dialogues, “Diverse Art” for Parallel and Professional Sessions, and “Infinite Art” for fusion and innovation. Together, these sections will present nearly 1,000 events, with a record-breaking number of world-renowned groups and premieres.
