Chang An is a composition created and produced over a year by the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. It incorporates various forms such as symphonic music, recitation, oration, rhyme, and vocal performance. It uses symphonic music to recreate the musicality of Tang Dynasty poetry and adds different dimensions to symphonic music through the artistic im agery of Tang poetry. The concert is directed by renowned director Chen Xinyi and features an original composition commissioned by the young composer Sun Chang of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Esteemed actors Pu Cunxin, Zhang Guoli, He Saifei, and Zhang Tielin are invited to perform alongside prominent artists such as Yu Opera Gold Award winner Han Pengfei, Peking Opera leading actress Chen Yixin, and independent musician Yang Yi. Together, they present a dazzling display of Tang Dynasty culture within the soul-stirring symphonic music.
