Dance Drama The Reunion of Oasis Produced by Hu Shenyuan Studio

As a commissioned work for the 23rd China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the original dance drama The Reunion of Oasis is a major work showcasing the spirit of Dunhuang culture. It is produced, presented and directed by the young dance artist HU Shenyuan. The drama is set in the story of Dunhuang envoys in the late Tang Dynasty, showcasing their legendary journey through hardships to deliver the good news of Shazhou city’s return. The dance drama uses rich character portrayals and symbolic scenes to present the cultural significance of the Dunhuang murals in the form of stage art, which ties together patriotic sentiments with the ancient city. The creative team conducted in-depth field research and meticulously refined the work, using contemporary artistic methods to awaken history, evoke cultural resonance, and pay tribute to China’s outstanding traditional culture.
