Hong Kong Zuni lcosahedron: A Cantonese Dark Drama Left Unsaid
Left unsaid is adapted from Left unsaid, a stage play by YU Rongjun, artistic director of the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre. The original work, with a sensitive touch, offers a rich and nuanced portrayal of loneliness, emotional distance between people, and the pain of separation and loss. More than just a psychologically rich dark comedy, this adaptation also incorporates the “art-tech” elements long championed by Zuni Icosahedron. Directed, adapted, and designed (both stage and multimedia) by Mathias Woo—an experimental theatre pioneer—the production fuses video, multimedia technology, and live performance to expand the expressive potential of the stage. Set against a backdrop of suspense, absurdity, and ambiguity, the play introduces innovative narrative techniques, creating a multi-layered, immersive theatrical experience for the audience.
