The dance installation work +1+1+1+, collaboratively created by Japanese media artist Daito Manabe and the pioneering dance collective ELEVENPLAY, centres on “volumetric capture” technology to construct an immersive stage where reality and virtuality converge, incorporating live string music and real-time visual interaction. Through three-dimensional scanning, dancers' bodies synchronize instantaneously with visual imagery—transforming dance beyond visible movement into a presence perceptible and interpretable by algorithms. This production extends the team's experimental spirit in stage technology, merging pure movement with cutting-edge innovation to both return to the body's essence and transcend its physical limits, ultimately forging a bold new theatrical vocabulary.
