Adapted from the German novelist Kafka’s short story Der Hungerkünstler. It depicts the image of an artist who performs “hunger art”. The cast of A Hunger Artist consists of an actor and an ensemble of music instruments. The composer is not only in charge of the work’s sound part but also of the script and stage effects. Compared to musical theatre and opera, new contemporary music theatre lays more emphasis on the matching between sound and performance on stage. In other words, music becomes the element that runs through the whole theatre.
