LOIE FULLER: RESEARCH takes modern-dance pioneer Loïe Fuller and her iconic Serpentine Dance as its research subjects , revisiting the history of dance, the memory of body and artistic transmission. Rather than reconstructing a classic, choreographer Ola Maciejewska confronts its mythology, contradictions and elusive traces. She uses the body to “rewrite” dance history and examines the relationships among movement, image and illusion from a contemporary perspective. With an experimental creative approach, the work invites audiences to rethink the history , transmission and evolving vitality of dance, establishing a new artistic dialogue between past and present, body and memory.
