Student Arts Jury

Established in 2017 with the support and guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the active participation of universities and senior high schools across the city, the Student Arts Jury recruits each year a cohort of young students with experience in student societies, an interest in literature and the arts, artistic literacy, and a passion for the stage. Members attend the festival’s performances and exhibitions, the “Art Space” community-focused art events, and works commissioned under the Rising Artists’ Works (R.A.W.!) program, as well as taking part in Campus Tour, arts salons, and many other activities.

2026 marks the tenth anniversary of the launch of Student Arts Jury. Under the theme “Ten Years: Beyond Watching,” a special anniversary program will continue to give young students opportunities to encounter outstanding works of art and to talk with the artists who make them, encouraging them to appreciate and reflect on art from a young person’s perspective. The jury will further develop a review system created by and for young people—the “Youth Evaluation Index” of recommended productions—forming a multifaceted arts education mechanism of “Exhibition, Critique, and Education.”
