

Shanghai Ballet's original ballet, Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, is adapted from the novel of the same name by French author Gaston Leroux. It is directed and choreographed by Derek Deane, the invited artistic director and worldclass choreographer of the Shanghai Ballet. It is the first full-length ballet adaptation of the work. The ballet revolves around the "Phantom" hidden in the Paris Opera House at the end of the 19th century and tells the story of this extraordinary genius and his encounter with the ballet prodigy Christine, combining pure love and haunting horror.
