The exhibition, titled "The Sleepless Theater", focuses on the rapid process of urbanization in Shanghai, artistic imagination, and cultural reflection. Curated by Professor Jiang Jiehong, it features the participation of eight contemporary artists from both domestic and international spheres, including Zhan Wang, Han Kyung-woo, Yuma Tomiyasu, Hu Jieming, Yin Yi, Huang Fangling, Liu Jianhua, and Peng Wei. The exhibition showcases over ten sets of site-specific works encompassing various artistic mediums such as painting, installation, sculpture, performance, video, and participatory art. In order to strengthen the site-specific nature and highlight the architectural features, all the artworks in this exhibition are newly created around the Wu Changshuo Memorial Hall building itself. This aims to achieve a more seamless integration and fusion between the artworks and the venue, enhancing the overall experience.
