Prince in desert by Hangzhou Yuhang Xiao Bai Hua Yue Opera Arts Centre
Prince in desert is adapted from One Thousand and One Nights and is notable as the first new production created after the Yue Opera master YIN Guifang founded the Fanghua Yue Opera Troupe. It symbolizes the continuous innovation and progression of Yue Opera as an art form. The new version of Prince in the Desert is produced by the Hangzhou Yuhang Xiao Bai Hua Yue Opera Arts Centre, with ZHAO Zhigang as the artistic director. His disciple FEI Xinping, along with Yue Opera performers HONG Yanqin, YAO Wenjun, and WANG Jiani, take on key roles. The production preserves the essence of the original work, paying homage to the classic Yin school of Yue Opera while blending various elements in both text and visuals. It creates an exotic atmosphere, rich and profound, presenting a unique romantic tale set against the backdrop of national conflicts and personal vendettas.
