The Modern Drama Book of Life，the fourth realistic work of the “Mao Dun Literary Prize”，by Shaanxi People's Art Theatre

The drama Book of Life, adapted from the Mao Dun Literature Prize-winning novel by LI Peifu, is the fourth play in Shaanxi People's Art Theatre's “Mao Prize” series, following White Deer Plain, Ordinary World, and The Protagonist. Screenwriter LI Baoqun and directors GONG Xiaodong and LI Xuan, along with the creative team, conducted extensive field research in the Yellow River Basin. The novel, which intricately captures life's challenges and joys amidst historical changes, is faithfully adapted for the stage. The production tells authentic stories of ordinary people's struggles over nearly half a century, reflecting the larger currents of societal transformation with profound emotional depth.
