Large-scale Modern Pingju Opera Walking Through the Storm was recreated by FEI Shoujiang, based on parts of the novel Storm by writer ZHOU Libo, and directed by WANG Jingyao. Set in 1947, during the liberation of Heilongjiang, the Communist Party led the land reform movement. ZHAO Yulin, a cadre of the peasant association, selflessly upheld the interests of the people, demonstrating a noble spirit of serving the Party and the public. To protect the fruits of victory, ZHAO Yulin led the militia in a fierce battle against the remaining Nationalist forces, sacrificing his young life. This production is imbued with the folk customs and charm of northeastern China, using humorous and lively language, combined with natural performances, to express the deep connection between land, food, farmers, the fate of the nation, and human development.
