MEI Lanfang's 130th Anniversary Concert by Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing

The year 2024 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of MEI Lanfang, the master of Peking Opera and the founder of the Mei School, as well as the 90th anniversary of the birth of his son, MEI Baojiu, who was a prominent inheritor of the Mei School and former head of the MEI Lanfang Peking Opera Troupe at the Beijing Peking Opera Company. To commemorate and pay tribute to these two generations of Peking Opera masters and their extraordinary contributions to the development of Chinese opera, Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing is hosting the "Mei Legacy" series of events. This Mei Lanfang's 130th Anniversary Concert will feature performances by contemporary opera masters and Mei School inheritors, showcasing highlights from traditional operas to honor and celebrate their enduring legacy.
