Place and Narration：Annual Exhibition of 2023 Chinese Contemporary Photography and Video Arts

This programme is a themed exhibition from the 2023 Chinese Contemporary Photography and Video Arts Observation. Curated by Shi Hantao, it includes works from 20 artists or groups, who use different techniques or mediums to tell their own “local” stories, discussing the unique expressions of video arts under different regional and linguistic contexts. These works not only display the diversity of global video art, but also delves deeply into the creativity from Chinese artists under certain societal realities and anecdotal events. Through the medium of video, the exhibition lets the audience refocus on forgotten, obscure, or fluid places, to experience the power and meaning of art in the dimensions of time and space.
