Drama The Book of Life, adapted from the novel of the same name by Mao Dun Literature Prize-winning author LI Peifu, is the culminating work of his “Plains Trilogy.” Meticulously produced over five years by the Shaanxi People's Art Theatre, the drama presents a sweeping historical tapestry of social transformation across five decades in China’s central plains, centred on the life journey of an orphan named WU Zhipeng. Tracing WU’s coming of age, the story delves into his intense inner struggles and difficult choices between wealth and conscience, idealism and reality.
