

Rising Artists’ Works (R.A.W.!) was established in 2012 and has risen to a leading comprehensive platform for incubating original artistic works in China. R.A.W.!is dedicated to providing high-quality soil for all-round growth of young artistic talents, facilitating cooperation amongst young artistic talents, and building a broad bridge for international exchange. Till now, R.A.W.! has commissioned 92 young Chinese artists from different fields and has presented 78 stage and visual art works of various styles. R.A.W.! commissioned works have made 28 outbound trips for international cultural exchange in countries and regions like the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Israel, Norway, Romania, Hungary, South Korea, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc..
R.A.W.!Land, jointly established by the Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2013, is an art carnival event integrating stage performances, visual exhibitions, master lectures and creative markets. As a display platform built up by young creators and in a spirit of "opening up for festivals, opening up for schooling, combination between culture and education and building up brand", R.A.W.!Land is open up to people from all walks of life and has been well received by professionals and audiences at home and abroad.
The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of R.A.W.!, the Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Shanghai Theatre Academy have strengthened cooperation and increased support for art works, jointly launching one specially commissioned work, ten commissioned works/artists and two recommended performances, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of R.A.W.!. Amongst such works, the stage works will be presented in the STA Experimental Theatre, Duanjun Theatre and the New Space Theatre of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Shanghai International Dance Center Experimental Theater, Buick Theatre Shanghai Grand Theatre, Hunzhi Theatre Shanghai Tower and Cadillac · Shanghai Concert Hall.
Also a series of events jointly organized by the Center China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Shanghai Theatre Academy, such as the 10th Anniversary Exhibition and Rising Artists’ Works Forum, will dig into the agglomeration effect of R.A.W.! in the past 10 years and explore opportunities for more overseas development for young artists in China, so that the world can truly see the unique expressions of young Chinese artists.
