The 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival Calling for Performances and Commissioned Works

To all applicants,

The 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and organized by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, is scheduled to take place from October to November 2025.

With the mission of “A Festival of Arts, a Gala for All”, the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will continue to strive toward building a globally influential cultural brand, adhering to its content positioning of "classic excellence and innovative exploration." Guided by the principle of "quality over quantity," the festival will bring together world-class artistic productions to grace its stages.

To facilitate the application process for participation in the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the relevant details are hereby announced as follows:

I. Application Period

From now until March 31, 2025.

II. Eligible Applicants

Art troupes, performing arts organizations, and performance venues.

III. Requirements for Application

1. Newly Created Works: Original productions developed by renowned playwrights, directors, and performers, featuring top domestic and international artists and ensembles, and presented as world premieres or debut performances. Also included are reimagined classic works from China and abroad.

2. International Collaborations: Productions from international partnerships and Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan regions that represent global standards, blending classic and modern elements, showcasing distinct regional styles, and reflecting cultural exchange and innovation.

IV. Required Application Materials

1. Promotional materials (in both Chinese and English) including a brief introduction of the performance troupe, repertoire, key creative personnel, and lead performers, as well as awards and recognitions.

2. Stage photographs (color), full performance audiovisual recordings, USB drives, and other related materials.

3. Performance overview, audience feedback, expert reviews, and media responses.

4. Information regarding the number of performers, composition of the troupe, and stage design conditions.

V. Application Guidelines

1. The performance must be scheduled during the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, which will take place from October to November 2025.

2. The application form must include specific details such as the performance troupe name, organizing institution, project category and content, performance length, proposed performance dates, and intended venues.

3. Performance venues during the festival will be coordinated by the organizing committee of the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, applicants should not sign formal venue rental agreements before confirming with the Committee.

4. Applications must be submitted using the attached Application Form (please stamp with the official seal).
